An attempt by a 32-year old Youth Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry Jones Hanson, to tie the nuptial knot with his lover without the consent of his legitimate wife has caused a serious embarrassment to him and his extended family.
Hanson who also doubles as the Secretary for the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) at Nkroful in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region has been summoned to the Regional Domestic Violence Victim and Support Unit (DOVVSU) Headquarters in Sekondi to answer some charges brought against him by his wife.
The wife, Mrs. Faustina Hanson aged 30, a Physician Assistant at the Presby Hospital in Agogo in the Ashanti Region told Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson she got wedded to Mr. Hanson in August 2011 and has two children with him; a boy, 4 and Girl, 2.
According to her, in 2014 the husband got married to another lady, Grace Quarshie also a nurse without her consent but the marriage only came to her notice in 2015, an issue which is still being resolved by the two families.
Just last Saturday, someone leaked information to her of another secret marriage by her husband and another lady, Esthela Amihere at Axim.
She added that she quickly went to DOVVSU to secure an order to stop the ceremony.
True to the information she had, she together with few relatives went to Axim on Saturday, March 26, 2016 only to realise the ceremony was underway at the Chief’s Palace.
She notified the Police in Axim and the ceremony was subsequently halted.
