NDC denies mass defection to NDP story

The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Eastern region has denied reports on the mass defection in the New Juaben South Constituency.

Mr. Anthony Gyampo, Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC said the report is absolutely false adding that no official resignation has been brought to his notice.

“As far as I am concerned I have checked at my regional and constituency office and there has not been any official resignation. The claim that several executives have resigned are absolutely false” Mr Gyampo said. Meanwhile, a leading member of support group ‘Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings’ (FONKAR), Ernest Owusu Bempah says the NDC should brace itself for a mass defection in various parts of the country in the coming weeks.

This follows reports on what appears to be a mad rush for the newly formed National Democratic Party, NDP.

Three former Parliamentary aspirants of the NDC – Mohammed Frimpong of Weija constituency, a former aspirant for Yilo Krobo, Daniel-Gerald Tettey-Akomey and aspirant for Chiana- Paga in 2008, Rudolf Amenga-Etego have resigned to join the new party.

Mr. Ernest Owusu Bempah in an interview with XYZ News there is a mad rush for the newly formed National Democratic Party and more NDC members would soon join them.

Mr. Ernest Owusu Bempah also dismissed a publication in Thursday’s publication of the Al Hajj newspaper that former President Rawlings and President Mills have on the quiet patched up and mended their differences.

“We have always known Alhaji Bature and his political stance; he was the first person to tell the whole nation that Nana Konadu would not contest the Sunyani congress and what happened. What has Bature written that has come out to be true” Owusu Bempah said.**
