NDC delegation returns home from British Labour Party Conference

Accra, Oct. 5, GNA – A four-man delegation of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that attended the annual Conference of the British Labour Party held in Liverpool has returned home. A statement issued in Accra on Wednesday by Mr James Asante, Director of Communications, said it was led by Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the General Secretary.

The other members were Mr Kofi Attoh, Director of International Relations, Miss Margaret Chavrari, Deputy Women’s Organiser and Nana Acheampong, an activist from the Ashanti Region. The statement said the delegation was among hundreds of political party representatives including some members of Socialist International participated in the Conference which discussed current socio-economic and political issues, particularly about the Labour Party’s response to the economic downturn in Europe. It said while in the UK the delegation participated in some Ghanaian radio and television programmes to brief Ghanaians in the UK on policies and programmes being implemented by the government, under the 91Better Ghana Agenda’.

In addition, the delegation held meetings with the UK, Ireland and Liverpool branches, the youth wing of the NDC in the UK and inaugurated the Luton branch. Mr Asiedu Nketiah said the trip was successful especially, the radio and television programmes, that helped to clear various misconceptions about the 91Better Ghana Agenda’. The delegation was away for a week.
