Koforidua, Jan 17, GNA – The executive of the Abuakwa North constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned party members to be wary of detractors going round the Eastern Region to entice NDC members with money to resign.
A statement signed on Monday by Mr Seth Otchere, the Deputy Constituency Secretary, pledged the support of the executive members and the entire membership of the Abuakwa North Constituency of the party to the new national leadership of the party.
The executive also appealed to all supporters and sympathizers of the party to remain steadfast and put their unwavering support behind the new national executive for them to steer the affairs of the party to victory in the 2008 elections.
It appealed to all officials of the party to remain focused and not to be disturbed by the petty squabbles in the party, especially after the National Delegates Congress of the party at Koforidua. The statement expressed regret that some leading members of the party who supervised the organization of the congress and “who should take responsibility for the isolated cases of hooliganism are rather blaming others who had no hand in the planning of the congress.”
It urged the new national executive to take steps to unite the rank and file of the party, saying “it is hard to imagine any victory in 2008 if internal squabbles in the party are not properly identified and solved.”
Later in a telephone interview with the GNA, Mr Nimako Dankwa, the constituency chairman of the party, said the party had evidence to the effect that someone allegedly offered 18 million cedis to an executive member of the constituency to organize a press conference to announce his resignation but he refused the offer. He said at the appropriate time the constituency would expose those involved “for them to be known for what they are.”
