the Presidential Candidate of the Party, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, for selecting Mr. John Dramani Mahama, MP for Bole-Bamboi, as his running mate for this year’s general elections.

A statement issued in Accra at the weekend, singed by Mr. Francis Puobeng, a spokesman of the group described the selection of Mr Mahama, as an excellent decision that would brighten the chances of the NDC to win the December elections to form the next government.

It said the Bole-Bamboi MP was a gentleman whose contribution to the party’s growth and success could not be under-estimated. The cadres said they had been following the activities of Mr Mahama in Parliament where he is a ranking member with interest and pointed out that the MP was “a gentleman’s gentleman,” who was admired not only by members of the NDC but also by those on the “other side of the political divide”.

They expressed the hope that Mr. Mahama would attract floating voters and members of other parties to the NDC to make victory in the elections a foregone conclusion. The cadres reaffirmed their loyalty and dedication to the cause of the party and promised to sacrifice to campaign and ensure vigilance at polling stations to avoid vote rigging during the elections for the NDC to regain power. 20 April 08
