The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) on Tuesday congratulated President John Dramani Mahama on his election to the highest office of the land.
A statement signed by its chairman, Charlotte A. Osei, applauded all Ghanaians for conducting a successful election saying it was delightful to see many Ghanaians turn out in numbers to perform their civic duty.
It said in spite of the challenges presented with the use of the biometric equipment, Ghanaians exhibited a great degree of patriotism and tolerance.
The statement said the development of Ghana and the well-being of Ghanaians hinged on building solid democratic foundations and would continue to support the Electoral Commission as it educates the electorates on how to exercise their franchise.
The statement also commended all political parties and other stakeholders for their commitment and efforts to ensure an issue-based campaign in the elections adding that the NCCE would continue to create awareness and educate Ghanaians about the tenets of the constitution.
