NCCE calls for public co-operation during elections

Kpedze, Nov. 11, GNA – Mr Fidelis Attoh, Volta Regional Director of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) on Tuesday called on the citizenry especially the youth to cooperate with security personnel and electoral officers to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections this year. Mr Attoh said this at a day’s general voter education forum organized by the Commission for the chiefs and people of Kpedze and its environs.

He said the stake in this year’s elections showed that the country was not in the mood to tolerate any electoral malpractices and offences during the elections. Mr Attoh therefore advised the citizenry to be law abiding and come out in their numbers to vote on Election Day. He recounted the political history of the country and asked the people to uphold, defend and nurture the country’s young democracy. Mr Harry Asimah, Ho Municipal Director of the Commission urged the youth to desist from deviant and offensive behaviours that could spark violence. Parliamentary candidates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and a representative of the New Patriotic Party in the Ho West Constituency expressed their commitment to ensure peaceful elections. 11-11-08
