Navrongo Central Parliamentary candidates engage in debate

Navrongo, (U/E), Nov. 21, GNA – Candidates vying for the Navrongo Central Parliamentary seat in the December polls on Saturday subjected themselves to public scrutiny in a debate at Navrongo to educate the electorate on their plans for the constituency.

They were Ms Jennifer Anemana of the Convention People’s Party (CPP); Mr Gabriel Pwamang of the People’s National Convention (PNC); Mr Otito Abdallah Achuliwor, Independent Candidate and Mr Donald Amuah, also Independent.

Mr Joseph Kofi Adda and Mr Emmanuel Andema, candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) respectively, were absent from the debate.

The Movement of Collective Associations (MOCAS), a civil society organisation in Navrongo organized the debate, with technical support from Corporative League of the United States – Government Accountability Improves Trust (CLUSA-GAIT).

The four candidates answered questions on problems associated with health delivery in the Constituency including HIV/AIDS, what they would do to improve the information sector, their plans for the agricultural sector and youth development and how they would help address them if voted into Parliament.

Mr Braimah Sanjage, Coordinator of MOCAS told the GNA that the Association was interested in free, fair and peaceful elections before, during and after the December polls hence the need for the candidates to interact on the same platform peacefully for the followers to emulate them.

He called on politicians to embark on their campaigns with decorum and in a humane way, devoid of insults to ensure violence-free elections particularly in the Upper East and Northern Regions.
