National Youth for Peace urges POTAG, MOE to act on strike

The Executives of the National Youth for Peace (NYP) have called on members of the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG), the Ministry of Education (MOE) and other stakeholders in Education, to act swiftly to end the strike action embarked by the Association.

In a statement e-mailed to the GNA in Accra, the NYP noted that the pending strike by POTAG needed to be resolved immediately considering the fate of final year students. According to the statement issued by Mr Eric Baffoe Nyarko, Executive Director of NYP, a non-governmental organization, frustrated students who are currently at home could be used as tools for violence.

It noted that the youth represented the future leaders of the country, and therefore deserved the needed attention in such a period. “The students don’t deserve these,’’ the statement added.

It further urged the students to remain calm, as government and other stakeholders find amicable solution to the current impasse.
