National Water Officials in the UK

Two senior officials, Mr. Samuel Gerald Odartei Lamptey, General Manager (Operatins) Ghana Water Company Limited and Ms. Abigail Naa Adzoko Kwashi, Assistant Director Ministry of Works &Housing from Ghana have travelled to the United Kingdom to carry out an in-depth study of the water industry. The visit is being sponsored by the High Commission.

They will have talks in London with officials from the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), British Water, OFWAT (the industry regulator), and the British Consultants Bureau.

They will also travel to a number to major cities in the United Kingdom for discussions with officials from water production and distribution companies, supply companies, and civil contractors in the water sector.

As water supply services in the United Kingdom are owned and managed by private companies, the visitors will have an ideal opportunity to compare notes relevant to Ghana’s own plans to invite private sector participation in urban water supply.
