National service persons donate blood to National Blood Bank

More than 1000 national service personnel and staff of the National Service Scheme on Friday converged at the El-Wak Stadium to donate blood to the National Blood Bank.

The National Service Personnel Association organised the blood donation exercise in response to a call by the National Blood Bank on the general public to re-stock the Blood Bank which had it stock dwindle to unacceptable levels in recent times.

The exercise is expected to be repeated in Tamale and Kumasi to help replenish blood stocks around the country.

In a short address, Mr Vincent Senam Kuagbenu, Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, commended the service personnel for their laudable exercise and assured them that government recognised the critical services they were rendering to the nation even in the remotest communities in Ghana.
