Winneba (C/R), May 18, GNA – National Service Personnel have been advised to lead decent and moral lives to enable them to avoid the deadly HIV/AIDS and contribute their quota towards national development. Mr Ambrose Entsiwah Jnr., Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Co-ordinator of National Service Scheme, gave the advice when he addressed about 100 personnel of the Scheme at a day’s seminar on HIV/AIDS at Winneba on Monday.
The seminar was under the theme: “Dissemination of current and accurate information and knowledge on HIV/AIDS to newly posted National Service Personnel”.
Mr Entsiwah said the national service scheme plays important role in the formulation and implementation of government policies and programmes, especially in the area of education where the nation requires more teachers.
Mrs Grace Boateng Ennim, a Senior Nursing Officers and a resource person at the seminar, reiterated that the best way to avoid the disease was to abstain from sex or being faithful to one’s partner because condom use is not hundred percent guarantor against AIDS.
Mrs Ennim announced that Winneba Government Hospital has now been equipped with drugs that can protect unborn babies from contracting the disease and advised pregnant women in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya district to attend antenatal clinics regularly for advice.
