National Security operatives have arrested the former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, Maxwell Kofi Jumah.
According to Citi News reports, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart was picked up from his Kumasi residence on Sunday, June 29, 2025, after operatives requested to speak with him.
He was later transported in a pickup truck to the Ashanti Regional Police Command, where he is currently in custody.
This development follows a May 15, 2025 raid by National Security operatives on Mr. Jumah’s residence, carried out in his absence, in a bid to recover state vehicles allegedly in his possession.
Mr. Jumah is reportedly under investigation for suspected financial impropriety during his tenure as head of the state-owned GIHOC Distilleries.
The allegations include questionable acquisition of state vehicles, mismanagement of company assets, and the unauthorized sale of GIHOC properties in Tema valued at over $700,000.
Mr. Jumah is also accused of inflating the company’s staff numbers, which reportedly placed a significant financial burden on the distillery.
