National Security Only Good At Chasing After Missing Dogs

A Deputy Communications Director for the NPP, Samuel Awuku says it is an indictment on the country’s established security agencies, most notably the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), Criminal Investigations Department (CID), National Security Secretariat for President Mills to bypass them and enlist the services of a journalist for undercover duties and derisively stated they are only better at hurrying after missing dogs in people’s homes.

“It seems everyone in the NDC is a National Security officer but the only interest they have shown is chasing after missing dogs,” Mr. Awuku said.

Mr. Awuku’s comments were in obvious reference to the storming of the home of the Managing Editor of the Gye Nyame Concord, Alfred Ogbamey by National Security operatives ostensibly in search of a missing ‘Neapolitan Mastiff breed dog’ on Sunday, January 30th.

Mr. Ogbamey, who is also a breeder, disclosed that his house including his bedroom was searched and he had to call in the Anyaa Police to restore order.

Contributing to a panel discussion on PeaceFM’s Kokrokoo Show, Mr. Awuku, who is also Director of Operations for the political pressure group, the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), reminded the President that fighting corruption is not a matter of sod cuttings, but political will and dogged determination.

“President Mills should walk the talk, he should back the talk with actions,” he added.

He described as unfortunate President Mills’ angry posture when he addressed customs officials after the release of the Anas exposé and the accusing fingers he pointed at the judiciary.

He accused the NDC of fighting against the corruption menace with a ‘lazy’ approach and observed that President Mills’ anger will not deter the customs officials from carrying out their nefarious activities.

“I feel very bad for him (President Mills)…his anger will not change anything,” Samuel Awuku said.
