National Peace Council should decentralize-Akatsi – North DCE

Mr James Gunu, the Akatsi-North District Chief Executive (DCE) has appealed to the National Peace Council (NPC) to consider decentralizing its structures to the district level.

He also suggested that the Council be transformed into a commission.

Mr Gunu was addressing the 58th Independence Day parade at Ave-Dakpa.

He said it was also important that the Council broadened its scope “as all other sectors of life require constant dialogue and compromises to secure national peace”.

Mr Gunu said it was disappointing that Ghanaians had allowed political differences to split their ranks to the detriment of national development.

He urged religious groups complaining about the abuse of their right of worship, to exercise restrain as the Council and other bodies tackled the issue.
