Accra, April 28, GNA – The National Media Commission (NMC) on Thursday appointed chairpersons and members of the various governing boards of the four State-Owned Media organizations. The Commission, exercising its mandate under Article 168 of the 1992 Constitution in consultation with the President of the Republic of Ghana, has appointed the Boards for the Ghana News Agency, the Graphic Communications Group Limited, the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and the New Times Corporation for a two-year tenure of office effective May 3, 2011.
A statement by the NMC signed by Mr Alexander Bannerman Deputy Executive Secretary said the Ghana News Agency’s Board has Mr Reginald D. Laryea as Chairman.
The members are Alhaji Haruna Attah, Mr Joseph Adjei, Nana Asantewaa Afadzinu, Ms Ajoa Yeboah Afari, Mr Nat Lomo Mainoo and the General Manager as members. The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation Board has Mrs Felicia Gbesemete as Chairperson.
The members are Ms Ophelia Ablorh, Mrs Fati Braimah Mohammed, Major-General A.K. Abdulai (Rtd), Ms Korkor Amartefio, Mr Ernest Asamoah, Togbe Adom Drayi II, Mr Kwasi Afriyie-Badu, Mr Joel Edmund Nettey and Director General as members. The Graphic Communications Group Limited Board has Professor Jane Opoku-Agyeman as Chairperson.
The members are Ms Sarah Akrofi Quarcoo, Dr Doris Yartey, Mr Kofi Nyantakyi, Mr Alex Bonney, Mr Adu Anane-Antwi, Mr Mohammed Affum, Mr Emmanuel Siisi Quainoo and the Managing Director as members. The statement named Mr Clement Vanderpuije as the Chairman of the New Times Corporation Board.
Dr Wilberforce Dzisah, Ms Helena Asamoah-Hassan, Mr Gerald Ankrah, Mr Ebo Hawkson, Mrs Irene Duncan Adanusa, Major Albert Don-Chebe (Rtd), Mr J.E. Allotey-Pappoe and the Managing Director as members.
