National House of Chiefs congratulates President Mahama

The National House of Chiefs (NHC) has congratulated President John Mahama for being elected as the President of the Republic of Ghana.

This was contained in a press release signed by Professor John S. Nabila, President of NHC and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

“As custodians of our culture and tradition, Nananom hope that under your Presidency, the peace we currently enjoy will be deepened and teach others about human dignity and sustainable development”, it added.

The release said it was vital that the President-elect initiated appropriate steps to unite the country after a highly competitive election campaign and urged Ghanaians to desist from all the rivalry and acrimony which characterized the elections.

“Let us resolve to work together as we continue to build our nation in unity, peace and stability through dialogue and national reconciliation”, it added.

The release thanked all the contesting Political Parties and their candidates including the Electoral Commission, Security Agencies, the National Peace Council, the Media, the electorates and the foreign and local observers for their roles in the successful and peaceful elections.

It assured its readiness to collaborate with government to promote sustainable development in all sectors of the economy.
