National Hajj Board was disappointing-Alhaji Omar

Ho, Dec. 19, GNA- Alhaji Hamza Omar, Volta Regional Chief Imam, on Wednesday expressed disappointment at the inability of the National Hajj Board to organize a successful Hajj for Ghanaian Muslims. He said, ‘it is unfortunate that after 50 years of independence, we, Muslims cannot organize a successful Hajj.”

Alhaji Omar was addressing Muslims at ceremony to mark this year’s Eid-UL-Adha festival in Ho.

He said the situation where pilgrims from all over the country were left to their fate for several days in Accra was unfortunate and called on the Muslim leadership to do something about the Hajj Board. Alhaji Omar expressed his gratitude to President John Agyekum Kufuor for ensuring that the Muslims left for the hajj and asked Muslims to wake up.

Alhaji Omar urged Moslems to be respectful, obedient to their leaders and peace loving people. Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minster congratulating Moslems on the celebration advised them to let peace, discipline, love and unity be their watchwords.

He later presented 20 plastic chairs and a ram on behalf of the Vice President Aliu Mahama to the Moslem community in the region. 19 Dec. 07
