National Chief Imam turned Ninety in New York

The National Chief Imam and Grand Mufti of the Republic of Ghana, Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu has turned Ninety years of age, while on State visit to the United States of America last weekend.

Hundreds of members of Ghanaian Muslims Community in News York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Boston and Washington DC as well as Toronto in Canada gathered at the Yankasa Islamic Center last Friday to grace the historic occasion.

The community organized a special birthday reception, after the usual Friday evening Khailala (remembrance of Allah). They recited the entire Qur’an, asking Allah to continuously bless, protect and prolong the life of the Chief Imam and maintain the peaceful atmosphere of Ghana and the entire world.

As a tradition in America where such historic events are highly revered, they prepared for him a huge happy birthday cake, bearing his name and age. There was plenty of food and drinks that added much flavor to the occasion.
