Nation needs youth for future manpower development-DCE

Kuntanase (Ash), Jan 1, GNA – Mr. Bright Addai-Mununkum, District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma, has advised the youth to shun promiscuity and lead healthy lifestyles which is the only way of ensuring their long life to enable the nation tap on their energies for future manpower development.

He was expressed disappointment that despite the huge investment being channelled into HIV/AIDS educational campaigns, people did not seem to change their lifestyles and therefore, many more people kept on being infected with the deadly disease.

Mr Addai-Mununkum, who was speaking to the GNA on pertinent issues as his New Year message to Ghanaians said there was the need for the youth to avoid pre-marital sex and instead concentrate on their studies to justify the huge cost of their education by the government, parents and all stakeholders.

He called on parents to always discuss issues concerning adolescent reproductive health to enable their children to be more assertive and make informed decisions.

The DCE made it known that currently, eight community-based organisations operating in the district have been given seven million cedis each for HIV/AIDS programmes.
