NASFAT organises Ramadan public lecture

Nasrul-Lah-L-Fatih society (NASFAT), Ghana, an Islamic societal organisation has held a Ramadan Public lecture in Accra to conscientise Muslims on the importance of Ramadan.

The 2015 annual Ramadan lecture was held on the theme, “Importance of education and Islam against terrorism.”

Alhaji Dr Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, National Chief Imam who spoke on the importance of Ramadan said the period is a time to show much love in terms of financial and material help to the less privileged in the society.

He asked Muslims to show love to everyone including non Muslims to make them receive the abundant favour that follows the festivity.

Alhaji Tawfick Jamalbaba, Principal Imam of the Green Mosque, Accra New Town, speaking on the theme, said education is the only tool that could enlighten Muslims on the true nature of their religion; including their disgust towards terrorism.

He said it is worrying how Muslims are been coined with terrorism and in an emphatically expression, he made reference to the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed which calls on Muslims to live peacefully amongst themselves and with non-Muslims.

Alhaji Jamalbaba explained that Islamic countries, who engage in terrorism acts, do that to satisfy their own parochial and political demands and not because of the religion they belong to.

“Hence this is no justifying reason for the media to associate terrorism in other parts of the world which is politically motivated to the teachings and practice of Islam,” he said.

The Imam said it is necessary for education to be an integral part of Islam, where knowledge would be sought in all aspects; both formal and informal, adding that parents should invest in the education of their wards.

He therefore, in a concluding statement advised Muslims, especially the youth to be disciplined during and after Ramadan and as well share the importance of the holy month to the larger societal interest and the nation as a whole.

Alhaji Jamalbaba disputed the assertion that Muslims would be saved when they die in wars and fights; hence, a motivation for their constant fights among themselves.
