Narcotic dealer jailed 15 years

Juaso (Ash), Aug. 18, GNA – A 23-year-old farmer at Agogo in the Asante-Akim North District has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Juaso Circuit Court for possessing quantity of Indian hemp in his room at Agogo.

Akwasi Addae pleaded guilty for possessing 3,099.7 grams of Indian hemp.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Salifu Haruna told the court presided over by Mr Jacob Boon that, on May 25, 2004, at 0730 hours, the Agogo police acting on a tip off, obtained a search warrant to search him (accused).

He said the police proceeded to the accused’s house, search his room and found a quantity of Indian hemp in a travelling bag, and 16 polythene bags, leading to his arrest together with the exhibits. Chief Inspector Haruna said the Indian hemp was sent to the police forensic laboratory and it was proved positive weighing 3,099.7 grams.
