Napoleon Kpoh leaves for Denmark

Accra, Nov. 17, GNA – Mr Napoleon Kpoh, President of the African regional branch of the Union Network International (UNI), a global trade union federation, has left Accra for Denmark, to attend the first ordinary congress of HK/Privat, the Danish Trade Union Federation.

Mr Kpoh, who is also a former chairman of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union of Ghana, is expected, as a guest speaker, to highlight problems faced by the African Trade Unions, how wage earners in Africa experience globalization and the multinational companies, as well as what can be done to strengthen regional sections of UNI, among other topics.

Also to attend the congress is Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, former Prime Minister of Denmark.

Other topics to be treated include relations between the third world and the western countries, especially in the area of trade relations and assistance to developing countries.

The congress is basically to examine trade unions all over the world within the context of globalization. The congress, which is under the theme; “Globalization” comes off on November 19 2007.
