Napo Loses Father, Otumfuo Bereaved

Snippets of information filtering into The Herald from the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital has it that the Apedwahene and father of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, sitting member of Manhyia South Constituency, is dead.

The Apedwahene, who is a sub-chief under the command of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is said to have died yesterday, after a short illness.

The sad demise, is said to have thrown the entire Ashanti Kingdom into a state of mourning.

The late Apedwahene, was a nephew to former President John Kufuor, was one of the many children of the late Asantehene Agyeman Prempeh II.

According to family sources, Asantehene Osei Tutu II is preparing to officially break the sad news about the passing away of his chief to his people and further announce the necessary funeral arrangements.
