Nanumba Youth Commends Government

Accra, April 7, GNA – The Nanumba Youth Association (NYA) on Wednesday commended President John Agyekum Kufuor and the Government for raising the traditional area to the status of a district.

“On behalf of the youth and people of Nanung, the youth leadership wish to express their sincere gratitude and happiness to the Government for the consideration and the creation of two Districts – Nanumba South and Nanumba North,” Dr Hafez Adam Taher, NYA President, stated in a Press statement to the GNA in Accra.

Dr Taher said the gesture was affirmation of the ruling Government’s commitment to bring good governance to the doorsteps of the ordinary Ghanaian.

“Decentralisation as concept has been translated into an operational and administrative reality and demonstration of the Government’s effort in opening the place up for developments we have been yearning for over the years.”

The NYA President pledged their commitment and support to the successful establishment of the district. He also appealed to the Government to consider the poor road network in the district as it affected productivity. Dr Taher urged politicians, political parties and individuals to avoid the use of inflammatory language, actions, images or manifestations that incited violence, hatred, contempt or intimidation against another party or candidate or any other group of persons on grounds of ethnicity or gender or for any other reason.
