Sunyani Jan. 1 GNA – Nana Kwadwo Seinti, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister has called for hard work among Ghanaians to support the government to achieve set goals for the country’s development. In a New Year message to the people in the region on New Year’s Day on Radio BAR and monitored by Ghana News Agency, the Regional Minister stressed that “only hard work can help us to progress as individuals and as a nation”.
He urged all to ensure that “we pursue whatever resolutions we adopt for the New Year and beyond” as we cannot expect the government to provide us with all our needs”.
“We should not expect the government alone to build factories, establish job openings before we can become employed. We should in our own small ways rather exploit the opportunities created by the government to make our lives better”.
The Regional Minister commended the people for exhibiting a high sense of political maturity towards peaceful elections in the region and expressed the hope that they would continue to protect the peace.
In a similar massage the Right Reverend Thomas Ampah Brient, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese in Sunyani urged the people to forget about past differences and forge ahead in unity as one people. “Let us forget our past difficulties and differences and have a new vision for our advancement, Bishop Brient, who is President of the local council of churches said and expressed the hope that the year 2005 would open a new chapter in the lives of everyone.
He explained that the Lord Jesus Christ brought peace and love to the world and it was incumbent on communities to co-exist peacefully and loved each other.
Bishop Brient stressed that the cancellation of Ghana’s debts by creditor countries was a clear testimony of the confidence that the rest of the world community had in the current administration.
“We therefore need to support the government with a united front to be able to achieve our individual and national goals”, he added. Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom 1V, Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area and President of the Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs expressed regret about the numerous land and chieftaincy disputes in the region and urged the people to let the New Year “to give us a new vision and direction”.
