Nana Akufo-Addo takes office as president

Following years of struggle to take control of the presidency, the New Patriotic Party’s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will today rise to the highest office of the land as he is sworn-in as the fifth President in the Fourth Republic of Ghana.

The investiture of Akufo-Addo will be the final and complete point of power transition from the John Mahama-led NDC government to the Akufo-Addo-led NPP administration.

Scores have thronged the Black Star Square to witness the swearing-in ceremony of Nana Akufo-Addo.

They include; President of Zambia, Edgar Lungu; Vice President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo; Egypt President, Abdul Fattah el-Sisi and President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma.

Cote D’Ivoire President, Alssane Outtara is the designated guest of honour for today’s event.
