Nana Agradaa’s Daughter Pleads for Mother’s Release

A viral video showing the teenage daughter of convicted evangelist Nana Agradaa tearfully pleading with the court for her mother’s release has gripped the nation.

In the emotional clip circulating online, the young girl reads a heartfelt letter, urging the judiciary to show compassion toward her mother, who is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence with hard labour. She described the emotional toll her mother’s incarceration has taken on her, revealing her struggles to cope without maternal care.

The public outpouring comes in the wake of Nana Agradaa’s conviction on July 3, 2025. Born Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, the former fetish priestess turned evangelist was sentenced by an Accra Circuit Court after being found guilty of defrauding church members under false pretence. She was also fined GHS 300 for promoting her schemes through what the court described as “charlatanic advertisement.”

According to court proceedings, Agradaa used her Heaven Way International Ministry to deceive congregants with false promises of financial miracles, securing large sums of money in the process.

In response to the verdict, Agradaa’s legal team filed an appeal, describing the sentence as excessive and claiming that the trial was marred by judicial bias. They argued that the evidence presented was weak and that the punishment did not match the alleged crime.

However, on July 15, 2025, the Amasaman High Court rejected her bail application pending appeal. Justice Richmond Osei-Hwere upheld the initial conviction, stating that there were no substantial grounds to suggest the appeal would succeed.

The court directed that all trial records be compiled within 14 days to fast-track the appeal process. Nana Agradaa remains in custody as her lawyers continue to explore options for legal redress.

The tearful plea from her daughter has ignited fresh public debate over the severity of the sentence and its emotional impact on Agradaa’s family.
