Nana Addo and Co Lawyers meet today

Lawyers representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2012 Presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo and two other plaintiffs in court will be meeting later today, Friday.

The meeting seeks to decide when to file a formal application challenging the composition of the panel put in place to handle the election petition before the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned hearing of the NDC’s application to join the NPP’s petition against the Electoral Commission and the President in respect of the composition of the panel of judges raised by the NPP.

Lead Counsel for the plaintiffs, Lawyer Gloria Akuffo, in an interview with Citi News said, “We are meeting this afternoon, our expectation was that the matter will be dealt with summarily, so we were hoping that the matter will be dealt with so that we can go on with the rejoinder but the court exercised its discression and decided we have to put it in the form of a motion; so we are meeting this afternoon to consider our option.”

Meanwhile, a former President of the Ghana Bar Association, renowned Lawyer Sam Okudjeto says there is nothing wrong with the plaintiff’s objection to the composition of the panel.

“I have heard people on radio and television saying that what the NPP is doing is very risky, I saw it on television even this morning with my own nephew involved in it and I thought that was improper.”

He impressed upon Ghanaians to be patient and stop being too anxious for things to happen.
