NAHSAG salutes health workers on World Health Day

Accra, April 7, GNA – The National Health Students Association of Ghana (NAHSAG), has commended the government for introducing the National Health Insurance Scheme.

In a statement to mark World Health Day, which falls on Friday, the Association, however, called for adequate human resource capacity for its sustenance.

It commended workers in the sector for helping the people to realise good health, vitality and giving them quality care and said the day, provided an opportunity to acknowledge their contribution to their health and development.

The statement said the theme, “Working Together for Health” did not only recognise the invaluable contribution of health workers but also re-echoed the need for modern healthcare. The Association urged policy makers, international donors, politicians, health professionals, academia, civil society, faith-based organisations and the media to unite to strengthen the health workforce. The statement called for the implementation of the new salary structure and adequate remuneration for health workers, the procurement of modern equipment and the renovation of existing facilities to make health workers in Ghana patriotic. 07 April 06
