NAGRAT sues GES over Zuarungu SHS riot

The Upper East Regional chapter of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), has dragged the Ghana Education Service (GES) to court for not including at least, a member of the association on a committee it set up to investigate circumstances that led to students’ rioting at Zuarungu Senior High School.

On July 1 this year, some students of the school went on rampage and damaged school property over postponement of an entertainment programme.

In its attempts to examine the cause of the riot, GES constituted a committee but missing on the committee was a representative from NAGRAT – the reason the leadership of the teachers’ body is in court.

The case which was heard on Thursday August 10, 2017 was adjourned to Tuesday August 15.

Meanwhile, the court has placed an injunction on the work of the committee.
