NAGRAT Ladies assist BECE candidates in Suhum

The Ladies of Excellence Desk of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), has held a seminar for Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) candidates from 10 public schools in the Suhum Municipality.

The one-week seminar, which ended on Thursday June 9, saw examiners taking the about 200 candidates through the correct ways of answering examination questions in all the subjects to be examined.

This year’s BECE commences, on Monday, June 13.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Nankese in the Suhum Municipality, Ms Linda Boadiwaa, the Regional Ladies’ Coordinator, explained that the seminar was to help address the candidates’ weaknesses in answering questions properly and technically.

“We realised pupils scored poor grades not because they were academically weak but because they didn’t understand the technicalities in answering questions,” she explained.

Mrs Rebecca Larbi, the Deputy Suhum Municipal Education Director, lauded the initiative of the NAGRAT Ladies and described it as timely.

She complained about the drop in performance between 2014 and 2015; from an 82 per cent to 75 per cent respectively.

Mrs Larbi appealed to parents to endeavour to provide their wards with their educational and economic needs since the lack of it affected their performance in school.
