NAGRAT awards individuals, media outlets

Accra, 11 Jan, GNA – The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), at the weekend in Accra awarded individuals and media houses th= at contributed to the development of the Association with plaques with citations, cash and double-decker refrigerators.

The individual beneficiaries included Mr Lucas Akabo, first Preside= nt of NAGRAT, Mr Martin Yao Dzikunu, first General Secretary of the Associat= ion and Mr Adjri Darko, first Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman of NAGRAT. Professor Dominic Fobih, former Minister of Education in the erstwhi= le NPP government, was also awarded for playing a role in the wavering of ta= x on cars imported for members the Association, The media houses that were awarded included Metro TV and Joy FM radi= o station, both private media outlets, and Daily Graphic, a state-owned newspaper. Mr Kofi Asamoah, General Secretary of Trades Union Congress, said NAGRAT as a labour union has come to stay and organized labour would supp= ort it to grow. He said that the Single Spine Salary Structure and New Pension Schem= e would have to be fine-tuned to benefit workers. Mr Kwami Alorvi, National President of NAGRAT, commended the awards winners for supporting the group to progress, adding that the rational fo= r the awards was more important than the value. 1
