NADMO to send relief items to flood victims

Koforidua, July 22, GNA – Mr Ransford Owusu Boakye, the Eastern Regional coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has said relief items would soon be sent to flood victims in five districts in the Eastern Region soon.

He said West Akyem, Fanteakwa, Atiwa, Kwaebirem and Kwahu West districts would receive beans and rice, toiletries, buckets, lanterns, polymaths and used clothing.

Mr Boakye told the GNA in an interview that his outfit had already given Atiwa and Fanteakwa Districts, mattresses, buckets and polymaths because they were the first to be affected.

He said the flooding could be attributed to poor drainage and also buildings on water ways as well as activities of illegal miners.
