NADMO official arrested in Tamale rioting

The Northern Regional Police Command, has arrested one Sulemana Kindiya, a 47-year-old staff of the Tamale office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for his alleged involvement in rioting and causing damage to property.

The arrest was in relation to rioting and rampaging of property in the Tamale metropolis by some irate youth who were allegedly protesting the supposed dismissal of Alhaji Ibrahim Seidu, a staff of the Feeder Roads.

Alhaji Seidu contested and lost in the just ended National Democratic Congress primary in the Tamale Central Constituency.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Tetteh, Public Relations Officer of the Regional Police Command told the Ghana News Agency on Thursday that the suspect is being processed for court.

He said three other suspects believed to be ring leaders are still at large and that preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect and three others masterminded the riot..

ASP Tetteh however assured the public that the metropolis is calm and people are going about doing their normal duties.

He however cautioned the people to be security conscious.
