The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) will be assessing the extent of damage caused to parliament’s roofing system after Tuesday night’s violent rainstorm that ripped off some portions of the legislature’s top covering causing it to leak profusely.
The situation disrupted parliament’s sitting. Tables and chairs in the chamber got soaked in rain with some gadgets getting messed up.
Mr Evans Anakwah, the NADMO officer in charge of flooding told Moro Awudu on Class91.3FM’s Executive Breakfast Show on Wednesday, 1 February that parliament was not the only casualty.
He said kiosks in some part of the capital, electrical cables, trees and billboards were toppled by the violent winds which accompanied the rains.
Mr Anakwah, however, said there have not been any reports of casualties. He said some of the worst hit areas Spintex Road, Teshie Nungua, Osu and Ga South.
