Owners of quantities of assorted narcotic drugs intercepted by the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) cannot be traced.
NACOB has therefore gone to court with an exparte application for an order to destroy the drugs including cocaine, cannabis sativa, heroin and methamphetamines.
Moving the exparte application, Mr Richard Gyambiby, a State Attorney at an Accra Circuit Court on Friday, said the drugs were seized by NACOB over a period.
According to him, NACOB after conducting investigations could not trace owners of the drugs.
He however prayed the court to give the board 500 grammes each of some of the drugs for training programmes of the NACOB.
Mr Gyambiby said some of the drugs would be used by sniffer dogs. A letter specifying the types of drugs had been presented in a letter attached to the exparte application.
The drugs specified in the letter include Methamphetamines, Cannabis sativa, heroin, cocaine.
The court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh granted the exparte application and ordered the destruction of the drugs and gave NACOB the green light to take samples for training programmes.
