Naadu Mills weeps at Manhyia

SAD scenes emerged from the Manhyia Palace, the official seat of the Asantehene, when former First Lady Naadu Mills paid a courtesy call on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II last Sunday.

The former First Lady reportedly broke down in tears immediately she set eyes on the Asantehene, who was then beaming with smiles.

Madam Naadu Mills’ demeanour suddenly brought sorrow to all people present including the Asantehene whose happy mood immediately changed.

The pain of the death of the late President, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, was suspected to be the reason Naadu Mills wept before Otumfuo.

Otumfuo, a source at the palace hinted, quickly ordered those who accompanied the former First Lady to the palace to leave the room.

Accompanying Mrs Naadu Mills were Hon. Eric Opoku, the Ashanti Regional Minister and Kojo Bonsu, KMA Boss among others.

The Asantehene then had a closed-door meeting with Naadu Mills, where the King was suspected to have consoled her.

Later on, when Mrs Naadu Mills had regained strength, the other members of her entourage joined her and Otumfuo.

Madam Naadu Mills used the occasion to present a Holy Bible to the Asantehene who received it with open arms.

The presentation of the Holy Bible formed part of Madam Naadu Mills’ Holy Bible donation project in the country.

The ex-First Lady earlier on visited the Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School in the city where she presented Bibles to students.

The Holy Bible presentation is to help instil good morals, discipline and the fear of God in the recipients of the Holy Book.
