Naadu Mills is sick – Former President’s brother confirms

Former First Lady, Ernestina Naadu Mills is not in the best of health according to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) and brother of the late President John Atta Mills, Samuel Atta Mills.

“She is not well that is why she could not attend the commemoration of the 5th anniversary of her husband’s death”, he revealed on Accra-based Okay Fm.

Widow of the former president was on Monday conspicuously missing at the wreath laying ceremony at the Asondwe park heightening suspicions that all was not well with the family.

According to Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Ayidoho who orgainsed the event, Mrs Naadu Mills was invited but chose not to come.

But the lawmaker dismissed claims the 73-year-old deliberately refused to turn up indicating that she is not in the best of health and therefore asked to be excused.

Prof Mills is the first sitting leader in the history of the country to die in office.

He died on July 24, 2012, three days to his 68th birthday.

Details on the cause of his death remain a closely guarded secret, but there were suggestions he died from hemorrhagic stroke complications.
