Naadu Mills family performs traditional rites to Family of Late Mills

The Family of Dr Ernestina Naadu Mills on Tuesday performed the last traditional rites to the Family of Late President Atta Mills towards the burial of the Late President.

The family of Naadu Mills led by Mr. Enock Teye Mensah, Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing presented a cash of GH?1000 and assorted items to the Late President’s family at his residence at Ashongman in Accra.

As tradition demands, Dr Naadu Mills’s family paid a visit to the Family of the Late President in Cape- Coast to inform them about the demise of their son, Professor Atta Mills, after which they were given a list of items for the funeral.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nana Ato Kwamena Dadzie, Deputy Chairman of the Mills Funeral Planning Committee advised the Family of the Late President to unite to ensure a successful burial of the Late President.

He said the country was expecting hundreds of international dignitaries therefore it was important for the whole nation no matter the political affiliation to come together to mourn the Late President.

He pleaded with the family of Prof Mills and Ghanaians to draw the attention of the Funeral Committee when they come across any problem in relation to the funeral arrangement.

He noted the demise of Prof Mills was the first of its kind in the country and since Ghana has no laid down rules and regulations, it was difficult for the Committee to come up with a desired funeral arrangement to suit the family and the nation.

“Please forgive us when we go wrong somewhere. Our doors are open to any suggestions which will help give a befitting burial to Prof. Mills”.

The family of Prof Mills commended the family of Dr Naadu Mills for their support during the demise of their son, Late President Mills.**
