N1 Highway through Kasoa to be closed to traffic today

A section of the N1 highway that passes through the Kasoa township will be closed to traffic effective today, July 10 following constructional works on the stretch.

The daily closure of the road scheduled to be done between 10pm- 5am each day will allow for contractors working on the Kasoa interchange to lift the steel beams unto pillars which is expected to last for a fortnight.

The One hundred and sixty million dollar Kasoa Interchange which started in August, 2015 is expected to be completed in November this year.

The nightly closure of the section that will a minimum of twenty-three thousand vehicles daily will help facilitate the project to its November deadline.

The Public Relations officer of the Kasoa Interchange Project, Amadu Tuarick said the main diversion route for drivers on the N1 is the New Kasoa Bypass that starts in the East(Accra side) after Ngleshie Amanfro Toll Booth, and on the West(Winneba side) about 1500 metres from Buduburam.

He urged drivers to pay attention to traffic diversion signs placed at vantage points on the works to find alternative routes for their travel.
