N/R: EC registration materials stolen at Yabaga

Electoral Commission materials for the limited voters registration exercise currently underway were stolen by some yet to be identified persons at Kunkua No.1 in the Yabaga- Kobori constituency of the Northern region.

The registration centre has been identified as Kunkua No.1 market store with a centre code H240801.

Items stolen according to Starr News sources included scanners, registration forms and other vital items.

A community source close to officers of the Electoral Commission in the area told Starr News that the incident happened Thursday night after the first day of the exercise.

“Yesterday when they closed for the first day we packed the materials in the store. The officer on duty went home with the machine itself, so this morning he came and saw that the door is broken and scanner and all that were kept in the room were gone,” the source narrated.

Even though the commission was able to replace the scanner, it delayed the process and only some 23 people were registered.
