The recently transferred Greater Accra regional Police Commander COP George Akufo Dampare has said his transfer by the IGP is a routine management practice within the service.
In a statement, COP Dampare expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to his success while he served as commander of the Greater Accra region.
“The new appointment which took effect immediately is a routine management practice and I have accordingly handed over the management of the region to my successor ACP Timothy Yoosa Bonga on 16 May 2016,” portions of the statement noted.
The statement comes on the back of rumours that his transfer along with 17 others has political connotations.
The Daily Guide newspaper Monday reported that Mr. Dampare’s rapid arrest of the alleged killer of the Abuakwa North MP Joseph Boakye Danquah may have contributed to his sudden transfer.
It is unusual for Police officers to issue statement after they have been transferred.
Meanwhile, this is the third time the IGP John Kudalor is embarking on a shake up within the service since he assumed the position some months ago.
