My suspension an insult to the dignity of the CPP – Ernesto

Suspended National Youth Organiser of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Ernesto Yeboah has described his purported suspension as an insult to the dignity of the oldest party in Ghana, given that he has not been officially informed of the decision by the executives of the party although it has been five days since the announcement was made on radio.

Ernesto Yeboah and the General Secretary of the CPP, Nii Armah Akomfrah, have been suspended from the CPP. The decision was taken at a Central Committee meeting of the party Thursday June 30, where the two were cited for publicly chastising and humiliating Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, the flagbearer of the party, in the media.

The party argued that Mr Yeboah and Mr Akomfrah had brought the party’s name into disrepute, and have therefore been referred to the party’s disciplinary committee for further action.

But speaking in an interview with Moro Awudu, host of Inside Politics on Class91.3FM on Monday July 2, Mr Yeboah said: “It is sad and embarrassing that I haven’t received any formal communications to that effect. On Thursday when I heard the news I gave the party the benefit of the doubt …Maybe it will be communicated to me officially in a few hours [but] Thursday passed, Friday passed, Saturday passed, Sunday passed [with no communication to that effect].”

He said: “This is not just a disrespect to my person…but it is actually an insult to the dignity of the party because no serious organisation behaves like this. You don’t run your administration on radio.”
