My politics will take me to heaven – Abuakwa North MP

Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North constituency of the Eastern Region, Gifty Twum-Ampofo says she is bent on engaging in clean politics because she believes that will take her to heaven.

She dismisses allegations peddled against her by NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the area, Ambassador Victor Smith, as just an attempt to tarnish her hard earned reputation.

“I am doing politics to go to heaven and also to praise the Lord to tell those doing dirty politics like Victor Smith to be watchful and salute me later. I know and believe that my politics will take me to heaven and I’m not ready to do nasty politics” she said.

Mr Smith had described the MP as a novice in politics whose tenure will come to an end at the December polls.

“She is a small fry (and) I’m taking the seat from her. The people are now determined to have development because they have never had development under the NPP,” he stated.

Mr Smith emphasised that his constituents were wide awake and ready to vote for change and not for party colours.

But Mrs Twum-Ampofo – who believes Mr Smith has already lost the December polls – indicated that the NDC candidate has no message and had resorted to offering money to people to buy their conscience.

She pointed out that Mr Smith had served as Regional Minister in recent times and had failed to attract or implement any meaningful development in the area, and it is laughable that he can do better as an MP.

Mrs Twum- Ampofo entreated the constituents to reject any offers from the NDC and vote massively for the NPP and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to win the December polls and transform the country.
