My missing bag a problem of six days – #NSMQ2017 mistress

Dr. Elsie Effa Kauffman, the Quiz Mistress for the 2017 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ2017), has described her missing bag as “a problem of six days.”

Dr. Kauffman, who is a senior lecturer and head of the Biomedical Engineering Department of the University of Ghana, was left bewildered Thursday, June 29, 2017, when her handbag containing her valuables was stolen moments after fans of the winners of the year’s quiz Prempeh College mounted the stage to receive their prize.

The bag contained an unspecified amount of cash, mobile phone, and ID cards.

But as at Sunday July 2, 2017, the ID cards and purse in the missing bag were found. The items which were in the bag were dropped at the University of Ghana, Legon, according to her sister Belinda Yaa Dankwaa Effa.

Commenting on the recent update Wednesday on Starr Chat with Bola Ray in a telephone interaction, Dr. Kauffman said “I haven’t found [my bag]. It is now a problem of six days.”

She added “The wallet was dropped off so I got my card but the bag itself I don’t know where it is”, noting, as a result, she has been using her sister’s glasses.”

Winners

Prempeh College in the Ashanti region was crowned winners of the 2017 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz.

They beat closest rivals St Thomas Aquinas Senior High School with a two-point difference win in the competition to grab the bragging rights for the fourth time.

At the end of the competition, Prempeh College had 53 points while Aquinas had 51 points and Adisadel College with 31 points.

One hundred and thirty-five schools began the chase for the trophy and only three remained as a triangle of schools from the Ashanti, Central and Greater Accra regions square it off at the National Theatre.
