My margin of victory beats my expectations – Akufo-Addo

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Saturday, October 18, 2014, received a massive endorsement from delegates of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to become the party’s flagbearer for the third consecutive time.

In the elections that were held in all 275 constituencies simultaneously across the country, Nana Addo secured an emphatic victory of 117,413 votes, representing 94.35% of the total votes cast.

The other candidates; Alan Kyerematen and Hon Francis Addai-Nimoh polled 5,908 votes representing 4.75% and 1,128 representing 0.91% respectively.

Speaking exclusively to Kwami Sefa Kayi in an interview on PEACE FM Morning Show ‘Kokrokoo’, Nana Addo said he knew he was going to win when he started campaigning nationwide.

However, he didn’t know it was going to be this ‘huge’.

“When I was going round, it was clear to me that I was going to win again but the margin beats my wildest expectations. The enthusiasm for victory 2016 is amazing… they are saying that we are determined to win and you are the one we want to lead us to victory. We are going to give 2016 our best shots because I know we can do better than those who are in charge of the country at the moment”.

Nana Addo hinted that one of his campaign messages for the 2016 election will be ‘free education’. According to him, even though the NDC has adopted it, he is the originator; hence there is no way he is going to let it go.
