Kumasi, Nov 16, GNA – Thousands of Muslims on Tuesday thronged the Kumasi Central Mosque to celebrate the Eid-ul-Adha, the feast of sacrifice with a reminder to uphold the value of self-denial for the general good of society.
Mr Kofi Opoku-Manu, the Ashanti Regional Minister, said they should identify with efforts at bringing progress and economic opportunities to the people.
Additionally, they need to continually pray to Allah to guide Ghana’s march to economic prosperity.
Mr Opoku-Manu re-affirmed the government’s determination to improve the quality of lives of Ghanaians and asked for total support from all sections of the society. He, however, acknowledged that not much could be achieved without Allah’s blessing.
He urged them to live by the virtues of their religion and give priority to the education of their children. This, he said, was the only way to assure them of a better and more secured future.
Sheikh Abdul Mumin Harun, the acting Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, counseled that they should be God-fearing and work towards the promotion of “our common humanity.” He asked them not to engage in rumour-mongering, personal aggrandizement, selfishness and greed and that they should rather help to make life a bit comfortable for the needy. Sheikh Harun earlier led the congregation to pray for the nation, its leaders and the welfare of Ghanaians.
