Kumasi,(Ashanti Region) 20 Oct. A two-day national delegates conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Call and Research has ended in Kumasi with a call on Muslims to maintain the peace and stability of the country. The conference also called on leaders of the Council to unite all Muslims and avoid any discriminatory actions that could threaten their peaceful co-existence. These were contained in a communique issued at the end of the conference with the theme “The Need for Unity Against Contemporary Challenges Facing Muslims”. ”We strongly disassociate ourselves from any Muslim group that calls for the creation of a rival national Chief Imam,” it stated. It asked Muslims to work hard towards achieving the laudable goals enshrined in the Vision 2020 document. The communique reminded Muslims that it is their duty to uplift the educational and moral standards of the youth and called on authorities of Islamic schools to review their curricula. Dr Ahmed Abdullah, National President of the Council, appealed to Muslim youth to learn hard to attain higher educational standards. He appealed to them to avoid rancour and in-fighting and reflect on how best they can unite to improve on their living standards. In a welcoming address, Sheikh Mohammed Salah, Ashanti Regional President of the Council, appealed to the Muslim youth to honour and respect the aged and assist them in times of need.
