Muslims urged to invest in children’s education

Juaso (Ash), April 28, GNA- Sheikh Amin Bonsu, a renowned herbalist, has expressed his concern about the low level of education in Zongo communities, blaming the situation on parents.

He said education was a catalyst for the development of every community hence it was imperative for Muslims to priorities the education of their children to ensure the rapid development of Zongo communities.

To this end, Sheikh Bonsu charged Muslim parents to invest in their children’s education to help bridge the gap between Zongo communities and others, saying the gap continues to widen rapidly.

He made the call at the inaugural ceremony of the Juaso branch of the Ghana Muslim Mission (GMM), which was under the theme, “Uniting to promote Education”, at Juaso on Sunday.

The ceremony, which was also aimed at raising funds for the establishment of an English and Arabic school, brought together the various branches across the country of the GGM.

Sheikh Bonsu, who is also a member of the mission, said the time had come for Muslims to pay particular attention to formal education in order to compete favourably for respectable positions in society.

He said the GMM had established numerous schools across the country, adding that plans were advanced for the establishment of a University and urged them to take advantage of the facilities to improve the lot of their children.

Mrs Gifty Ohene-Konadu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akim South, commended the mission for the initiative and pledged her support to the project.

She said the move to establish a school was in line with government’s efforts in making education accessible to all and called on stakeholders to join to make the vision a reality.
